Boyu Yan
Boyu Yan is a Chinese jewellery designer and maker. She is a member of the Art Jewellery Forum and a 2023 Cartier Scholar. She received her BA in Jewellery Design from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, in 2025, followed by an MPS in Fashion Management from Parsons School of Design in 2026. Fascinated by the possibilities of reimagining the body, identity, and social roles, her practice explores the relationship between reality and fantasy.
This collection is built upon her conviction that "Pockets can be worn as jewellery." Frustrated by the recurring experience of discovering that the pockets in her clothing are either decorative or too small to be functional, Yan draws inspiration from these beautiful yet impractical objects that people encounter in everyday life. Through chainmail, she embarks on an ironic exploration of the pocket, transforming it into a glamorous yet quietly defiant form of jewellery.
